Masimo to Provide Noninvasive Patient Monitoring Solutions to Fortis Healthcare

Masimo, a developer of non-invasive monitoring technologies, has announced that it has signed a multi-year supplier agreement with Fortis Healthcare. As per the terms of the agreement, Fortis will gain access to Masimo’s complete range of pulse oximetry and non-invasive, patient monitoring solutions.

Fortis Escorts Heart Institute located in New Delhi has installed 100 units of the Radical-7 solution developed by Masimo in its critical care patient rooms and operating rooms. The Radical-7, featuring Masimo SET pulse oximetry provides non-invasive measurement of acoustic respiration rate, methemoglobin, carboxyhemoglobin, pleth variability index, oxygen saturation, perfusion index, pulse rate, total arterial oxygen content and total hemoglobin.

The Head of Anesthesia and Critical Care Medicine at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, Dr. Anil Karlekar explained that following the installation of the Radical-7 in the operating rooms, the monitors have trended and tracked oxygen saturation, fluid volume changes and hemoglobin levels reliably, enabling the potential to make better clinical decisions to improve patient outcomes.

The Zonal Director of Fortis Healthcare, Dr. Raajiv Singhal stated that the preferred supplier relationship enabled by the medical technology supplier agreement provides all the healthcare facilities and hospitals owned and managed by Fortis Healthcare direct access to Masimo's non-invasive patient monitoring solutions. Dr. Singhal also added that all Fortis-affiliated hospitals will benefit from the capabilities of the Masimo SafetyNet; the SEDLine brain function monitoring; the Masimo rainbow SET Pulse CO-Oximetry and the Masimo SET Motion and Low Perfusion pulse oximetry solutions at a low price.

The President of Worldwide Sales, Marketing, and Clinical Research at Masimo, Jon Coleman stated that the use of advanced SET non-invasive technologies will enable clinical measurements and monitoring of patients in real-time which using invasive methods was not only time-consuming but was also a costly process.

Fortis Hospitals can purchase the Masimo standalone Radical-7, Rad-87 and Rad-8, the portable Rad-5, Rad-57, Pronto and Pronto-7 rainbow Pulse CO-Oximeters, on contract. Fortis will also have access to reusable, adhesive and ReSposable sensors for all their patients.
