Measurement Specialities has announced that the company has acquired the assets of Cosense, a Long Island, New York-based manufacturer of switches and ultrasonic sensors.
The product offering of Cosense includes point air detection sensors, invasive and non-invasive point liquid level sensors and multi-channel micro measurement level transmitter for use in semiconductor, medical instruments, petroleum, industrial automation, aerospace, chemical process, water & waste water, pulp & paper, power & utilities, pharmaceutical and biotech applications.
The assets of Cosense were purchased for $11.5 million and the transaction was completed on April 2, 2012. The acquisition is expected to add $7.5 million to Measurement Specialties annual net sales.
The Chief Executive Officer of Measurement Specialties, Frank Guidone stated that the ultrasonic sensors designed by Cosense have been added to the company’s product portfolio and are ideal for continuous, multi-point and single-point liquid level measurement. The innovation solutions offered by Cosense complement the offerings of Measurement Specialties.
The Chief Executive Officer of Cosense, Naim Dam expressed excitement at becoming a part of the Measurement Specialties by stating that the global sales force, worldwide manufacturing footprint and technical expertise offered by Measurement Specialties offers unlimited possibilities for expanding the reach of Cosense.
Measurement Specialties, headquartered in Hampton, Virginia, is a manufacturer of sensors and sensor-based systems, including pressure sensors, photo optic sensors, fluid property sensors, mass air flow sensors, temperature sensors, torque sensors, piezoelectric accelerometers, precision NTC thermometers and linear variable differential transformer. In the past, the company has acquired Eureka Environmental, Intersema Sensoric, Gentech International, Celesco Transducer Products and Atexis.
