Raytheon has announced that it has been awarded a $106.4 million worth modification to a contract that was awarded to the company by the US Navy for the production of Aegis-relevant equipments.
As per the terms of the contract, the equipment include the MK99 Mod 14 fire control system and the AN/SPY-1 radar transmitter, which have been under production for over 30 years under the Aegis shipbuilding program supported by the US Navy.
The contract modification will ensure reliable manufacturing of the two systems, which are essential to the capabilities of the Aegis weapons system. The delivered Aegis-related equipment will support the Aegis Ashore missile defense system as well as the DDG 116 Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer. Raytheon also provides repairs and spares for the Aegis weapons systems in addition to logistics support.
The AN/SPY-1 radar transmitter and the MK99 fire control system are currently deployed abroad the Navy’s fleet of destroyers and cruisers in addition to Spanish F-100 class frigates, South Korean KDX-111 King Sejong destroyers and Japanese Kongo-class destroyers. Raytheon will soon deploy the AN/SPY-1 radar system aboard the Air Warfare Destroyer for the Royal Australian Navy.
