Sentec, a provider of smart grid and metering technology, has been honored with the Queen’s Award for Enterprise again. This recognition is for the third consecutive year.
The Queen’s Award for Enterprise for Innovation was awarded to Sentec’s Mobius current sensor technology. Smart meter products have been utilizing the technology for more than a decade. These meters provide accurate information about energy consumption to consumers and electricity utility providers. Over ten million smart electricity meters including Sensus’ iCon A meters with Mobius technology are being used in the market.
The information about electricity consumption enables electricity utility suppliers to provide a reliable and efficient service and consumers could use flexible payment tariffs.
The CEO of Sentec, Mark England, stated that the Queen’s Award for Enterprise endorses the company’s innovation and commercialization of its technologies. The award appropriately recognizes the Mobius sensors technology, which drives more than ten million meters across the US. The technology supports rollout out smart meter products in the UK.
The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are awarded for innovation, international trade, and sustainable development. In 2010, Sentec received the Queen’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade, and in 2011 its water flow sensor technology received the award for innovation.
HRH The Duke of Edinburgh chaired a committee and recommended the establishment of the Queen’s Award in 1966.
