AuthenTec, a provider of mobile and network security, has launched a new smart fingerprint sensor that has been optimized for mobile commerce applications using NFC-based mobile payment security.
The AuthenTec AES2750 sensor features a 192x8 p fingerprint sensor array, One Time Password generation, and SHA, RSA and AES encryption blocks. It also has hybrid fingerprint matching and confirmation facility on the chip, and user credentials, fingerprint templates and SPI system interface encryption. The sensor can interact with payment applications and provide NFC radio control.
The device features a special package design that allows it to be mounted in edges or narrow spaces in tablets, smartphones, and touchscreen-enabled mobile devices. It has Durable TouchStone II package technology, and it is over molded in plastic that enables it to be used for elegant designs.
The AES2750 sensor has a beveled package contour that allows in-glass integration options. In order to address multi-network biometric device requirements, it includes an expanded sensing width. The sensor features an ultra-hard surface coating that provides greater than 9H scratch hardness for more than 10 million rubs. AuthenTec is providing the sensor in an over molded 19-ball BGA. The sensor supports the OAuth open standard for secure NFC, OTP and authorization protocols.
The sensor is to be displayed at the CTIA Wireless 2012 in the Mobile Commerce Pavilion.
