Fingerprint Cards (FPC) and CrucialTec (CT) have launched a new biometric track pad (BTP) for mobile phones and tablets.
In March, FPC and CT had entered into collaboration for integrating FPC’s swipe sensor silicon into CT’s BTP. FPC’s swipe sensor silicon is a power-efficient, small-sized fingerprint sensor designed for mobile applications. It provides 3D image quality with a resolution of 508 dpi. The sensor can be used to control user interfaces. CT provides optical trackpads for the mobile and smart phone, and smart TV industries. Optical trackpads are optical navigation devices and are designed for mobile devices.
FPC’s swipe silicon technology was combined in a short time period. For this collaboration, FPC is providing Android applications, navigation capabilities and other payment, security features. The addition of finger print recognition to optical trackpad navigation feature will enable added security. This cost-effective feature will also allow expansion into home appliances and non-mobile markets.
The CEO of FPC, Johan Carlström, stated that the strategic cooperation with CT was a proud affair. The ability of CT to develop and deliver customized biometric track pads was impressive and when combined with the company’s swipe silicon technology the product will have a positive impact for biometry in the growing market for tablets and mobile phones.
