Zentrum Mikroelektronik Dresden (ZMDI), a provider of analog and mixed-signal semiconductor solutions for various applications in the industrial, automotive, information technology and medical field, has added the new ZSSC3154 high-precision signal conditioner standard IC to its ZSSC product family.
The ZSSC3154 IC features a dual analog output interface that allows it to be used for industrial and automotive applications. Using one IC, two different input signals can be read out. The signals may be temperature from a temperature sensor and a pressure signal sent from a resistive full bridge. The IC can digitally compensate for non-linearity, gain and offset of the ambient temperature sensor signal. A 16-bit RISC microcontroller performs these corrections utilizing settings from an EEPROM memory.
The two analog outputs can be programmed in different configurations that allow simultaneous reading or generation of antivalent and normal signals. This can be used for controlling the right sensor-to-module communication. The options available for various configurable outputs enable users to setup applications using redundant output signals.
The ZSSC3154 effectively uses non-calibrated elements for the ambient temperature and bridge sensors. This is done without trimming of the external components. It enables completely automatic mass production for sensing elements that are non-calibrated through a digital one-pass end-of-line calibration featuring integrated broken-chip detection.
The ZSSC3154 demonstrates safety output behavior through the two antivalent analog outputs. It helps lower production costs through its broken-chip detection and single-pass end-of-line calibration algorithm. The IC has AEC-Q100 qualification for operation in the -40°C to +125°C temperature range. ZMDI is supplying the IC in a JEDEC compliant plastic package and as a die.
