Navizon, a provider of location-based technology and services, has introduced a novel system for measuring pedestrian traffic volumes, both indoors and outdoors.
The Navizon Analytics measures pedestrian traffic volumes historically over time and in real time. Many types of location-aware services and applications may benefit from the new technology, intelligence and data points.
The pedestrian traffic analysis tool provides the number of visitors in a particular location and also monitors the change in flow of the visitors. This data can be accessed in various time horizons, in terms of hours, days, weeks and months. The device does not affect the privacy of the persons entering the monitored area.
The device can sense the Wi-Fi signals transmitted by mobile devices in a particular area and can detect and count the number of such devices anonymously.
Navizon’s founder and CEO, Cyril Houri, stated that the technology may be applied to numerous applications, including urban planning, retail intelligence, convention center sales, real-estate intelligence and special events.
The technology can help improve plans for streetscapes and lease commercial property in urban planning applications. On a trade show floor, the device can help in assessing the value of a specific booth space for convention center sales assessment applications. Knowing the amount of foot traffic around a store can aid in planning the store’s promotions, shift hours and store hours. The device can also provide intelligence about pedestrian traffic in a specific indoor location or corner in a retail store. Navizon Analytics can measure the attendance at special events including public gatherings and concerts.
