Covidien, a global provider of patient monitoring and respiratory care devices and other healthcare products, has introduced the Nellcor SpO2 single parameter module designed for use with Philips IntelliVue Patient Monitors.
The module can be used in general care wards, neonatal care wards and intensive care units. It enables clinicians to get a better idea about the respiratory function status of a patient. It is a cost-effective method and helps detect life-threatening events. The module utilizes Nellcor OxiMax pulse oximetry technology. The technology enables monitoring of oxygen saturation in patients continuously. It further helps improve decision making by clinicians.
Nellcor OxiMax pulse oximetry technology can be used along with Philips monitoring systems to obtain cardiac-based pulse rate and SpO2 readings. These can provide indications of critical respiratory problems. The module features an alarm management feature that facilitates clinicians to differentiate between transient and minor events.
The Nellcor SpO2 single parameter module can be used along with the Philips IntelliVue MX series of monitors including MX 600, MX 700 and MX 800, and the IntelliVue MP series of monitors from MP40 to MP90.
The Nellcor SpO2 single parameter module can be used with the Nellcor forehead sensor, single-patient-use oximetry sensors, and Nellcor non-adhesive sensors. The forehead sensor can be used with ventilated patients and can detect oxygen saturation changes earlier than normal sensors. They provide readings when finger sensors are not able to do the same. Non-adhesive sensors can be used for NICU patients, and the single-patient-use oximetry sensors can be used for protection against hospital-acquired infections.
