Fingerprint Cards Introduces New Area Sensor, FPC1011F3

A new area sensor, FPC1011F3, has been introduced by Fingerprint Cards (FPC). This area sensor has a sleek design and provides better protection against electrostatic discharge (ESD) when compared to its predecessors.

It is regarded as the industry’s best ESD resistance sensor. The area sensor is being produced in a large scale, and has been ordered in large volumes by several FPC customers.

The compact design promotes the incorporation of the low-power-consumption area sensor into biometric products that include USB keys and bank tokens. The area sensor is robust and tolerates ESD of ± 30 kV which is essential to increase the service life of electronic components.

The area sensor has been produced using qualified production methods in the same production unit as that of the FPC’s existing area sensor in order to increase the product quality with less customer returns.

The Product Manager of FPC, Christian Skeppstedt stated that they are continuously making efforts to improve their products and also to be at the cutting edge in the biometric technology field. The launch of this new sensor underlines the company’s intention to continue its investment in swipe and area sensors. By targeting different customer segments, both swipe and area sensors complement each other. For FPC’s continued success, both the products are required. The development of the new area sensor is an important step in keeping the dominant market position of FPC and continuing to have competitive products.
