TREK to Unveil Field Meter at SEMICON West 2012

At SEMICON West, TREK will launch a new Field Meter of Model 511. SEMICON West, a yearly event, is scheduled to take place from July 10 to 12, 2012 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco and favors the global microelectronics industry.

Trek's new field meter (Model 511) is designed for testing and auditing of electrostatic fields in applications where Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) and the damage it can cause to products or manufacturing facilities is a concern. Target applications include semiconductor (chip) manufacturing and other ESD-sensitive production or research environments. (PRNewsFoto/TREK, INC.)

Trek's Model 511 Hand-Held Field Meter is a convenient and cost-effective solution that monitors electrostatic fields. This versatile solution is crucial as delayed or inaccurate monitoring will create damage to products or the infrastructure of photovoltaic/solar, semiconductor, and electronics industries. The field meter will be exhibited at Trek's Booth.

Model 511 is a handy, chopper-stabilized, non-contacting electrostatic field meter that can effectively be used for testing and auditing electrostatic fields that will have a major impact on electrostatic discharge (ESD).

Trek's field meter was basically created for charge monitoring in photovoltaic/solar and electronics manufacturing, and in semiconductor (chip). It can also be used as electrostatic field monitoring for ESD auditing, or for assessment of voltage generation of materials, equipment and personnel and other charge-sensitive manufacturing or materials research environments. The optional charge plate accessory within Model 511 ensures applications involving balancing and testing of ionization blowers and devices. Furthermore, the unit is effective for surface voltage measurements of photo-conductors or dielectric surfaces and for measuring electrostatic potentials on polymers, paper, and film.

This unit includes switch-selectable measurement range of either +/- 20 kV per inch or +/- 2 kV per inch. Measurement precision over 5% of reading can be achieved. The design of Model 511 enables precision measurements in ionized as well as non-ionized environments.

The unit includes supplementary features such as a push-button 'auto-zero' feature that removes any offset voltage, and easy-to-read LED display that stores a reading on the display until released.
