Ultra Clean Holdings’ AIT Division Collaborates with XIA to Develop Detection and Measurement Tool

Ultra Clean Holdings declared the commencement of its pilot manufacturing program for XIA, located in Hayward, California. Ultra Clean Technology (UCT)’s AIT division offers a complete turnkey solution including novel system testing, advanced design expertise, and electro-mechanical systems integration to XIA.

UCT will employ a high level of vertical integration resulting from the recent UCT/AIT merger to quickly and efficiently design, create, develop and manufacture the UltraLo-1800 alpha particle counter.

The XIA UltraLo-1800 is a low background alpha particle counter that uses electronic background suppression for powering attainable background rates to 0.0001 alpha/cm2/hr or lower. Around 50x better factor can be realized with this novel counter compared to other commercially available conventional proportional counter systems.

XIA’s VP of production, Mr. Michael Sears stated that owing to its potential to provide a true design-build-test solution for XIA’s new alpha particle counter, AIT was selected to be XIA’s partner. In addition, XIA’s proven versatility welcomes rapid and efficient addition of design revisions.

According to Clarence Granger, UCT's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, the XIA UltraLo-1800 product development partnership has led to positive outcome. The project demonstrates UCT's expansion potential of entering into new technology markets, marking the success of XIA program. UCT ensures significant improvement in the disciplines of cost containment and quality, and design engineering and manufacturing expertise.
