Xylem Acquires MJK Automation

Water technology company, Xylem declared that it has acquired Denmark-based company, MJK Automation, for $12.3 M. MJK Automation is a privately owned company. The terms of the business transaction have not been disclosed.

MJK is a one of the major producers of measurement and control technology and flow and level sensors for water and wastewater applications. It has its operations in Singapore, Denmark, Norway, the United States, and the Netherlands. MJK has created around $10.7 M worth revenue for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2012.

According to Xylem’s President and CEO, Gretchen McClain, being complemented with MJK, Xylem can have a better strategy of obtaining excellent businesses that can be added to its existing global analytics portfolio. Integration of MJK’s controller technology with the company’s core pump expertise will enable the expansion of Xylem’s wastewater and surface water applications, thereby combining Xylem’s transport and test capabilities.

According to the President of Xylem’s Analytics business, Chris McIntire, MJK’s expertise in water and wastewater applications improves the analytical instrumentation platform of Xylem. The company’s wastewater offering is being complemented with the addition of MJK’s significant physical parameters. Furthermore, MJK also offers energy-efficient controllers for field applications.

The high-efficiency products of MJK are ideal for deployment in wastewater, water, environmental and irrigation applications that require critical measurements in pipes, canals, wells, and open channels. Sensor technologies such as ultrasonic, hydrostatic and electromagnetic plus Remote Telemetry Units (RTUs) that support monitoring and control units are effective for online, field, and lift station applications.
