GE has acquired PRESENS, a Norwegian company providing high-performance sensors for flow, temperature and pressure measurements. Through this latest acquisition, GE expands its suite of sensing solutions.
This acquisition adds PRESENS to GE’s Measurement & Control business, which is a division of GE Oil & Gas. It will facilitate GE Oil & Gas to expand its reach in Norway and will also enable customers of both firms to leverage a novel integrated technology offer.
PRESENS, headquartered in Oslo, offers sensor solutions especially in high-pressure and adverse environment measurements. The company uses its proprietary, patented technology to develop and market pressure sensor solutions. The sensing element design facilitates high-precision and steady measurement of temperature and pressure. The sensors produce highly consistent data, which is an ideal input for sophisticated monitoring and control systems, enabling them to function to their full potential.
GE expands its core energy offerings as well as its adjacent offerings for industrial and energy customers worldwide through this acquisition of PRESENS. This transaction is the latest in a suite of acquisitions during the past 10 years that has promoted growth in GE’s Measurement & Control business based in the greater Boston area.
Brian Palmer, President and Chief Executive Officer at GE Measurement & Control as well as Vice President at GE Energy, stated that PRESENS’ sensors expertise is a perfect fit to the company’s portfolio of sensing solutions. PRESENS’ Chief Executive Officer, Frode Meringdal commented that GE’s worldwide presence enables PRESENS to launch its solutions to a global customer base.
GE’s Measurement & Control business provides sensor-based inspection, radiation measurement, controls, and asset condition monitoring that provide productivity, safety and accuracy to customers operating in industries such as healthcare, transportation, aerospace, power generation and oil and gas.
