Smiths Detection declared that it has been awarded with two orders from the U.S. Army with a total value of over $21 million. The contract has been rewarded under the Department of Defense’s Joint Chemical Agent Detector (JCAD) program.
According to Smiths Detection President, Mal Maginnis, JCAD being one of the world’s largest chemical warfare protection projects, has been a critical part of Smiths Detection’s extensive record. The program’s continuing success relies on Smith Detection’s potential to provide highly affordable solutions on time.
The JCAD is supported by extended LCD product line of Smiths Detection that includes light-weight, highly-portable novel threat detection devices that can be fastened to a belt. The LCD is an economical solution that tests the air followed by instantly alerting the personnel on detecting dangerous chemicals like warfare agents and toxic substances, thereby ensuring hazmat, police, and Special Forces with safety and security.
The improved M4A1 JCADs are developed in Smiths Detection’s facility at Edgewood, Maryland. M4A1 JCADs is now available. The Maryland plant includes around 230 employees who extend their expertise and service to cater to the demand from the U.S. military on behalf of the JCAD program. It serves to be the key manufacturing plant in the U.S. for designing and developing X-ray and a series of chemical warfare detection systems.
