Toshiba America Electronic Components (TAEC) declared that it has expanded its industry-leading complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) image-sensor portfolio with the launch of two new devices.
Marking Toshiba's first proprietary 720p HD format sensor, the T4K08 results from the integration of SoC image processing with 1.75 um front-side illumination (FSI) pixel technology, on the chip. The T4K24 is touted as the company’s first native 1080p FHD format 1.75 um front-side illumination (FSI) pixel technology sensor. Both devices integrate high-performance and low-power packed within a small form-factor solution for camera systems used in front-facing cameras-based notebook computers, phones, and tablets.
The T4K08 is a 720p format sensor of 1.75 × 1.75 um pixel size and supports HD video at 30 fps. The sensor sustains 1280 horizontal and 720 vertical output signal pixels with an image size of 1/7” optical format. The compact primary color filter camera system of the T4K08 ensures vibrant color reproduction.
With 1.75×1.75 um of pixel size, the Toshiba T4K24 is a high-resolution 1080p FHD FSI image sensor that supports FHD and HD video at 30 fps. The sensor area extends 1920 horizontal and 1080 vertical signal pixels with image size of 1/4.4” optical format. Using primary color filter camera system, the T4K24 delivers rich color reproduction.
Samples of the T4K08 format sensor and T4K24 image sensor are currently available, while mass production will be available during Q4 of 2012.
