MTS Systems Announces E-Series Temposonics Sensors with Additional CAN and Digital SSI Outputs

MTS Systems . announced the incorporation of CAN and digital SSI outputs in the E-Series Temposonics Sensors. Inclusion of CAN and SSI offers the ease of use, durability, reliability and economic benefits of magnetostrictive sensors for standard linear industrial and automation applications.

MTS Systems’ Technical Marketing Manager, Matt Hankinson, said that the E-Series met the performance demands in standard applications in the absence of premium features required for applications with higher performance. He also added that the benefits of CAN and SSI outputs have enabled the company to provide industries with linear positioning tools of advanced types, which were not put to use in the past due to economic and space constraints.

The CAN output sensors are available in two resolution types, 10 and 20 µm. The SSI output type sensors have resolutions of 20, 50 and 100 µm. The gauge lengths vary from 50 to 2500 mm. These properties of the E-Series sensors enable them to be effectively used in packaging equipment, plastic injection molding and woodwork industries which have strict economic restrictions.

The models under the Temposonics E-Series offer different types of solutions based on their design parameters. The models in this E-Series include EL (low profile housing design), EP (profile housing design) and EH (rod style housing design) types. These E-Series sensors have the advantages of compact size and absolute linear position. A single sensor can be used to measure two different positions.

Temposonics R-Series Sensors, manufactured by MTS Systems Corp., are suitable to be used in other highly demanding applications as they provide quicker update times and enhanced accuracy for high-speed motion control.
