Sony Unveils Unique Full-Frame Video Camcorder

B&H Photo Video has reported the release of the Sony NEX-VG900 Full-Frame 35 mm Sensor HD Event Videography Camcorder to the photography community.

Marking the first Handycam camcorder having a 35 mm sensor, the Sony NEX-VG900 Full-Frame Interchangeable Lens Camcorder takes full advantage of the artistic competence of interchangeable lenses. The camcorder's Exmor CMOS sensor has a resolution of 24.3 MP, and 40 x increase in size than its corresponding ones and twice larger than the APS-C sensor in related models. The features include ultra-shallow depth of field, low-light sensitivity, wider view, and robust defocusing potential.

The Sony NEX-VG900 is capable of capturing 24 MP still photos with full-frame, with RAW format support ensuring post-processing quality and versatility of a pro-class type camera. The sensor enables generation of distinctive bokeh effects, high sensitivity for bright, low-noise images, and seamless reproduction of true tonal gradation.

In addition to new 35mm sensor, the NEX-VG900 provides highly clear film-like images by shooting video in 24p progressive mode with CinemaTone Color presets and CinemaTone Gamma for leveraging cinematic grading effects accurately. The AVCHD version 2.0 standard 60p recording creates highest range of creative potential options for movie-makers. New Picture Effect modes ensure high efficiency.

Incorporation of LA-EA3 adapter to adopt A-Mount lenses makes the NEX-VG900 more versatile. LA-EA3 allows the use of A-mount lenses for enabling wide-angle shooting at the lens's designed focal length without cropping.

The 2359K dots within Tru-Finder OLED Electronic Viewfinder Frame with the Tru-Finder OLED electronic viewfinder provides excellent resolution and improved contrast ratio for enhanced depth.

Recording can be done using Quad Capsule Microphone & 5.1 Sound The integrated Quad Capsule Spatial Array 5.1 ch surround microphone and also 5.1-channel surround sound. A new Multi Interface Shoe equipped to an optional XLR adapter kit provides sound-capture efficiency.

Full manual control of iris, gain, and shutter ensures adoption in any environment.
