Aptina, a company providing CMOS imaging solutions worldwide, has launched a new digital camera image sensor to cater to the mirrorless and bridge camera markets. Labeled as AR1011HS, the new sensor which features a 1” optical format has been developed for the Tier-1 camera original equipment manufacturers.
The sensor offers superior image resolution of 10 MP and 3.4 µ pixels that facilitate the delivery of high quality image under bright as well as low light. The architecture of the AR1011HS sensor allows high speed reading of full 10 MP at the rate of 60 fps. The sensor also allows the operation of a wide range of video modes. These include true high definition resolution at oversampled 1080p, high quality quad high definition and 1080p video at 120 fps. Slow motion playback is facilitated by modes featuring high frame rates.
The AR1011HS image sensor incorporates the DR-Pix technology from Aptina which provides high-pixel capacity for capturing scenes under bright outdoor conditions and high-pixel sensitivity for imaging under low light conditions. The AR1011HS also integrates the advanced 24-lane High Speed Serial Pixel Interface, HiSPi from Aptina for data transfer.
The AR1011HS image sensor from Aptina is currently available in limited volume samples. Mass production of the sensors is scheduled to commence from the first quarter of year 2013. The AR1011HS sensor will be showcased at the 2012 Photokina show to be held from September 18 to 23, 2012 at Cologne in Germany. Customers will be allowed to view the new sensor at the show only by invitation.
