RESON will host its first Underwater Technology Seminar, which will be conducted along with Ocean Business 2013 in Southampton on April 8. The company will also host three further Underwater Technology Seminars in Austin, Copenhagen and Shanghai, later this year.
Finally, there will a video white paper that would explain about a three-dimensional (3D) visualization of the Gulf of Mexico. In addition, the company has launched a new sonar video contest, dubbed 'The Hunt for the World's best Multibeam Sonar Video'.
The half day conference will be held at the Jury’s Inn in Southampton. Visitors can learn the latest news about RESON and its innovative products. The seminar will begin at 2 PM local time. Later, RESON will host a cocktail party in the evening.
Visitors can also attend the Ocean Business 2013, which will be held between 9 and 11 April at booth L15. RESON will demonstrate the new SeaBat multibeam system as well as the PDS2000 survey data acquisition, processing and visualization software.
There will also be a video whit paper on the mapping of the Gulf of Mexico Seafloor. Eric M. Fischer, Geophysicist, Marine Surveys, LLC from the 2012 US RESON User conference will present this white paper.
Back in 2011, Marine Surveys of Lafayette, Louisiana, carried out a number of marine geophysical surveys in the Central Gulf of Mexico. In order to assess and present the 3D position, attitude and direction of underwater structures, a vessel mounted high frequency multibeam echo sounder (MBES) as well as a high precision positioning and inertial navigation system was utilized. Additionally, a 500 kHz side scan sonar was run at individual locations so as to provide a standard mapping presentation, which can be utilized as a reference and compared with the MBES data.
The survey results demonstrated the importance of the MBES data for mapping seafloor features and underwater structures. The water depths ranged up to 225 ft, which enabled the survey team to conduct all the surveys at 400 kHz.
Additionally, individuals can participate in the sonar video contest and win a free trip to one of the World Tour Seminars. Travel and hotel costs will be covered, or a new MacBook Air will be given.
To participate in this content, individuals must upload their multibeam sonar video and include a description about the survey. The top five videos will be selected by an online poll and the overall winner will be selected by a jury. All the data must be acquired by a RESON SeaBat multibeam system. However, participants can choose their own visualization software.
