PCH International, Zinc Software Partner to Commercialize Next-Generation Heart Sensors

PCH International is delighted to announce a partnership with Irish company Zinc Software Limited as part of the PCH Accelerator program. The partnership will offer Zinc Software Ltd access to PCH's global product development and supply chain solutions that are used by the world's top brands.

PCH will work with Zinc Software Ltd to develop and achieve scale for their revolutionary health and wellness product, the Zen Sensor.

Zinc Software Ltd develops next generation heart sensors aimed at the health and wellness market. Zinc Software's Zen Sensor is a wireless biosensor that comfortably clips onto an ear lobe and once powered on, immediately starts transmitting heart pulse data to an iPhone or iPad. The Zen Sensor system relies on heart rate variability (HRV) biofeedback, a clinically proven method that significantly reduces both blood pressure and the levels of stress hormones such as cortisol in the blood.

Zinc has just raised a EUR650,000 seed round in Ireland with Kernel Capital, AIB Seed Capital fund and Enterprise Ireland investing in the company's innovative technology and experienced team. The company plans to grow its sales platform rapidly in 2013 as well as bring in license partners for its heart sensor technology via its SDK program.

PCH International CEO Liam Casey commented: "We are very excited to work with such an innovative Irish technology company, Zinc Software Ltd. The products they are developing highlight a new direction for the health and wellness market; PCH will help them achieve scale and bring an exciting new product to market. Our PCH Accelerator program brings the most innovative hardware products to market quickly and we believe we are building the Fortune 500 brands of the future."

Darran Hughes, CEO of Zinc Software, explained the benefits of the device: "We are delighted to work with PCH international to help us meet customer demand for this very exciting product. In the next few years wearable sensors will be much more commonplace helping us stay healthy and active. Regular exercise and good diet will be big part of this but we also believe good health starts in the mind and creating time in your day to be mindful and refocus is an excellent basis to build a healthy lifestyle. The Zen Sensor provides the perfect context to learn meditative breathing techniques and in only 10 minutes, become refocused and re-energized."

The Zen will be priced at $99 and will be available online in mid 2013 in the US and Europe.
