The 2013 City Technology APAC Distributor Conference in Su Zhou on March 22nd was a success with more than 20 distributor representatives attending from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Malaysia.
The focus for the event was to generate discussion on key market and product trends and address challenges facing the gas detection industry.
City is the world's largest gas sensor manufacturer, with facilities in the UK, China, Germany and the USA. Wilson Tan, APAC business leader, kicked off the conference with a review of business and market performance, with members of the team providing an insight into new sensing technologies.
Guo Anbo, senior application engineer, highlighted two newly emerging markets for gas sensing: underground mining, where City’s 4OXV and 4CM sensors offer significant benefits, and ammonia refrigeration, which is experiencing strong growth due to increased awareness of environmental protection.
Newly appointed business development manager Frank Zheng focused on City’s new oxygen sensor, the 4OXeco LP, which is targeted at the emissions and air quality monitoring market.
Wilson Tan, APAC Business Leader, commented, “The annual distributor conference is always a great vehicle to understand more about the market from our distributors so we can focus our efforts on the right areas. It was very interesting to hear our OEMs discussing the advantages of electrochemical sensing over other technologies such as optical sensing, in flue gas analysis.
In the residential market, one trend that all distributors are optimistic about is the impact of City’s ECOSURE and ECOSURE X CO sensors on China’s growing domestic CO detection market.”
