Raytheon Introduces Advanced Dual-Mode Global Positioning/Laser Systems

Raytheon Company is leveraging innovative technology resulting in superior accuracy and reliability with the latest variant of Enhanced Paveway™ II "L-5" guidance kits.

"This variant builds on the strengths of the current combat-proven Enhanced Paveway™ II, integrating evolutionary technologies to the dual-mode global positioning/laser systems," said Harry Schulte, vice president of Raytheon Missile Systems' Air Warfare Systems. "The Enhanced Paveway™ II provides the U.S. and our allies with improved performance and dependability for current and future defense."

The advanced system is designed to engage maneuvering targets traveling at high speeds, while simultaneously improving accuracy and minimizing aircrew workload. At the heart of the system is the innovative digital Semi-Active Laser seeker, which improves performance and increases overall capability and reliability of the Enhanced Paveway™ II.

The company was awarded a direct commercial sale in 2012 from an international customer for more than 600 of its next generation of Enhanced Paveway™ II "L-5" guidance kits.

About Paveway™
The Paveway™ family of laser only guided and dual-mode global positioning system/laser-guided bombs has revolutionized tactical air-to-ground warfare by converting "dumb" bombs into precision-guided munitions. Bombs equipped with Paveway™ kits have been put to the test and have proven themselves time and again. Paveway™ is the weapon of choice for 43 customers. Paveway™ laser-guided bomb kits comprised the majority of air-to-ground precision-guided weapons used in Operation Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom and Unified Protector.
