tecsis LP introduces the Model XLK; a new shackle assembly load cell which improves upon the traditional load pin arrangement used to measure tensile forces on cranes, hoists, and other lifting devices.
The Model XLK is an innovative shackle body design which features sensing elements built into each shackle leg. The patent-pending design delivers accuracy up to 0.15% over ranges from 1,000 to 20,000 lbs. and combining the outputs from the two sensing elements provides exceptional repeatability.
When using a force sensing load pin in a typical shackle assembly, care must be taken to control the direction of the applied force. Load pins are sensitive to loading and any rotation of the pin can shift the optimal load point and adversely affect the accuracy. Keeper plates and various other methods are employed to secure the load pin to gain consistent results in these applications.
By incorporating the load sensing capability into the legs of the shackle instead of in the pin, the problem of correct loading is eliminated. The Model XLK shackle assembly is always in the proper orientation for best results, even with a swinging or shifting load.
The unit is built to survive in harsh industrial environments with sealed construction which conforms to IP 67 (EN 60 529 / IEC 529) for water resistance. The unit can handle overloads of 400% and the operating temperature is -50° to 250°F, compensated from 60° to 160°F. Model XLK is internally amplified and available with 4-20mA (2- or 3-wire), 0-5Vdc, or 0-10Vdc output. A variety of electrical connections are offered.
