1550 Eye-Safe Pulsed Laser Diodes for Military Rangefinding Applications

A Recent introduction of 1550 nm pulsed laser diodes that do not harm the eyes while being used for range-finding applications, will help in the development of an appropriate detector for military usage. Detection signals currently used in military applications are normally weak.

Laser eye-safe pulsed laser diodes have just recently been introduced at 1550 nm for rangefinding applications

These InGaAs (IAG) photodiodes offer the maximum sensitivity in the wavelength of 1550 nm, with the detecting range varying from 1650 nm to 1000nm. Besides offering dependable detection in the 200 µm and 80 µm regions, the IAG series is also available in XXL version. Its large 350 µm diameter has surpassed most of its other features.

Its features include more than 200 kW/cm² damage threshold, maximum of 2.5 GHz
bandwidth, 0.01 pW/sqrHz NEP and the smallest possible dark currents. These dynamic and sturdy APDs are available in aTO-46 housing, with options for customer-required solutions.
