Kratos to Provide Monics RF Carrier Monitoring and Interference Detection System to Inmarsat

Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc., a leading National Security Solutions provider, announced today that its SAT Corporation (SAT) subsidiary has been selected by Inmarsat to provide SAT's industry-leading carrier monitoring and interference detection system, Monics®.

Monics is the enterprise-networked DSP spectrum measurement and interference analysis system used by 90% of the world's top satellite operators and telecommunications providers in over 57 countries around the world.

Monics combines hardware and software components to monitor satellite uplink and downlink performance, enabling operators to provide the best signal quality for their customers. Monics' native scalability and flexibility enables a fully distributed, autonomous system for monitoring payload traffic against costly RF interference, including co-channel interference.

Inmarsat Global Xpress (GX) will be the first globally available high-speed broadband network. It will offer the unique combination of global coverage from a single operator, consistent higher performance of up to 50Mbps, and the network reliability for which Inmarsat is renowned. GX is the first satellite fleet from Inmarsat that will access Ka-band frequencies and allow for even higher bandwidth communication. The first satellite (I-5 F1) will cover Europe, the Middle-East, Africa and Asia. Full global coverage from the GX constellation is expected by the end of 2014.

"As Inmarsat expands into Ka-band, Monics will help assure the service levels its customers expect by reducing the costly effects of RF interference," said Bob Potter, Chief Technology Officer of SAT. "This high-speed global communications network will benefit from the advanced features and capabilities that have made Monics the industry leading RF carrier monitoring solution."

"We are very pleased to be partnering with SAT," said Michele Franci, Vice President of GX Commercial. "Their Monics system provides a valuable facility to support us in delivering the highest quality of service for our GX users."
