AuthenTec, the security, touch control solutions, and identity management company, has integrated its innovative AES1750 smart sensor into NTT DOCOMO’s two mobile phone models, namely, the docomo STYLE series F-07B and docomo PRIME series F-06B. The sensor is built within the TouchStone™ packaging, which renders multi-functional control and one-touch security to the new handsets. The two new mobile phone models are currently available in Japan.
The new handsets feature touch-powered operations that are further enhanced by NTT DOCOM’s AES1750 smart sensor. The sensor allows users to lock and unlock the phone with a swipe of the finger, making navigation much easier than before.
The first sensor to utilize unique TouchStone packaging from AuthenTec, AES1750’s surface is perfectly flat, smooth to touch, and colored uniformly. These features improve the aesthetics of the handsets. The AES1750 is also the first to integrate the company’s TrueNav chip technology, which augments touch control functions. Functions such as turbo scrolling, precise cursor positioning, and full touchpad emulation allow mobile device and smartphone manufacturers to substitute mechanical devices, such as touch pads, track balls, optical joysticks, and touch pads, with thinner components to provide end users with better security and personalization features.
According to Mobile Phone Group of Fujitsu general manager, Katsumi Takada, the company’s goal was create mobile phones that were customized to suit diverse end user lifestyles. The integration of smart fingerprint sensor into the F-07B and F-06B models has allowed them to make these handsets more personal and secure.
President of AuthenTec KK, Japan, and AuthenTec Vice President, Masatoshi Morishita, commented that their team has been working with Fujitsu to comprehend the sensor requirements, such as the cosmetic appearance, durability, and size. He believes that by integrating the AES1750 smart sensor in the new handsets, both companies have achieved their mutual goals.
