Novasentis, Inc., a leading developer of sensory feedback technology, today announced it has launched a new family of actuator products called Clic®, which are designed and optimized to enable localized haptics on electronic devices. Clic products are based on Novasentis’ Electro-Mechanical Polymer (EMP) technology, which recently won the 2014 CES Innovations Design and Engineering Award in the Embedded Technologies category.
Novasentis’ Clic 1010 EMP actuator, the first in the Clic Actuator family, is 10x10mm in size and less than 120microns in thickness. Ultra-thin Clic 1010 actuators used in electronic devices act as a second skin, bringing electronics alive by providing tactile and acoustic effects right under users’ fingers, allowing a richer and more natural sensory experience, and enabling a variety of new activities and functionalities. Applications include smartphones and tablets, wearable devices, keyboards, laptops and ultrabooks, gaming accessories and home appliances. Novasentis is ready to take orders for its Clic 1010 EMP haptic actuators with three months lead-time. The company plans to customize Clic family products according to customer needs.
“For product designers and manufacturers looking for new form factors, better user experiences and product innovation, Novasentis provides the most advanced haptic technology in the world,” said Christophe Ramstein, president and CEO of Novasentis. “Our localized HD haptic technology allows devices to shake right under the surface being used, while providing audible sound effects to engage users and enhance the user experience. Our technology encourages and inspires design freedom and creativity, while also giving a competitive advantage.”
