MacAulay-Brown, Inc. (MacB), a leading National Security company providing innovative engineering and technical products, services and solutions to Defense, Intelligence, Homeland Security and Federal agencies, announced today that it was awarded a subcontract with Leidos to provide real-time hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing services for the United States military. The work will support programs conducted at the Guided Weapons Evaluation Facility (GWEF) at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla.
As a part of the Leidos Team, MacB will provide HIL solutions to test weapons systems sensors. In addition, the team will assist GWEF personnel in developing an updated HIL controller that will be used to evaluate performance by simulating combat conditions to determine how weapons systems respond during actual engagements. Reducing the number of expensive field tests significantly decreases costs for the military.
"HIL-based simulation solutions ensure that today's complex weapons systems will perform the way they are supposed to without the need to conduct expensive, real-world tests," said Fred Norman, Senior Vice President and General Manager of MacB's Mission Systems Group. "Working with the GWEF, we will increase the Air Force's HIL capability to ensure the systems the Nation relies on are reliable and accurate."
