Decagon Devices Introduces MPS-6 Matric Water Potential Sensor

The Decagon Devices MPS-6 Matric Water Potential Sensor uses ceramic discs and a six-point water potential calibration to take soil water potential measurements across the plant available water range in almost any environment.

MPS-6 matrix water potential sensor

The Decagon Devices MPS-6 matric water potential sensor allows scientists and professionals to take long term and maintenance free soil water potential and temperature readings at any depth. The confirmed range of the MPS-6 is from -9 kPa to -100,000 kPa with 10% accuracy in the plant available water range. The MPS-6 is useful for irrigation monitoring, tracking slope stability, observing forest and range plant available water, and many other soil water applications.

The MPS-6 has dramatically improved accuracy over its predecessors because of the six point factory calibration it undergoes at Decagon Devices. The six point calibration gives the MPS-6 the accuracy of an individually calibrated sensor at a price comparable to most uncalibrated sensors.

The MPS-6 is perfect for long-term research studies because it also does not require recalibration or field maintenance.

The plug and play installation makes the MPS-6 a breeze to set up and use with accompanying Decagon data loggers and software. With Decagons Em50G data logger users can even access data remotely from the office, lab, or anywhere with an Internet connection. The MPS-6 is also compatible with most major commercial data loggers through the SDI-12 universal communications protocol.

The new MPS-6 is the first low cost matric potential sensor with research grade accuracy. View a MPS-6 product video at http://decagon.wistia.com/medias/05ty4mzaqt.

Decagon Devices was founded in 1983 and is located in Pullman Washington. Decagons instruments measure water in soils, foods, pharmaceuticals, and other porous media.
