RDA5876A Bluetooth Transceiver Selected by Sharp for Wireless Sound Bar Connectivity

RDA Microelectronics, Inc. ("RDA" or the "Company"), a fabless semiconductor company that designs, develops and markets wireless systems-on-chip and radio-frequency (RF) semiconductors for cellular, connectivity and broadcast applications, today announced that its RDA5876A Bluetooth transceiver has been selected by Sharp Electronics Corporation to enable wireless sound bar connectivity on products sold in the Unites States and European Union.

The RDA5876A integrates industry-leading Bluetooth and FM radio tuners into one chip optimized for consumer and mobile applications. Manufacturers can easily and quickly integrate the RDA5876A into their designs for rapid time to market and low component cost.

Sharp, in conjunction with their micro control unit (MCU) vendor OPTEK Technology, has integrated the RDA5876A into the sleek and stylish HT-SB30D sound bar system with wireless compatibility. RDA's 5876A Bluetooth transceiver also transmits sound between the bar and the wireless subwoofer. The sound bars feature high-definition audio for 40" and larger TV models. Sharp is also developing additional products using RDA's Bluetooth solutions.

"Sharp is well known as a worldwide leader in quality sound systems, and we are pleased to expand the use of RDA's non-handset Bluetooth solutions into an increasing number of markets, including the United States. The integration of RDA's high performance Bluetooth connectivity solution on Sharp's home entertainment products greatly increases the consumer's choices for playback, system set up and enjoyment of their audio files," said Shuran Wei, CEO of RDA Microelectronics.
