Siemens Industry Automation Division has launched a new, advanced motion-sensing switch, the Sitrans WM100, to track the presence of motion on conveying, reciprocating or rotating equipment. The rugged sensing switch is ideal for primary industries namely aggregate, mining and cement plants.
Motion Sensing Switch
The sensing switch acts as a warning device and prevents equipment breakdowns and process interruptions. The switch can be mounted to a maximum of 100 mm from the target, and can detect the operating conditions without impairing the sensor. When a zero speed is noticed, the motion sensor offers the necessary contacts to shutdown the equipment. This alarm option immediately warns about system malfunctions occurring on bucket elevators, screw conveyors, drag, pumps, fans and belt.
The switch is resistant to moisture, dirt and dust, and its non-contacting design removes the need for part replacement and also does away with other cleaning and lubricating processes. The motion-sensing switch cuts downtime and reduces the cost associated with conveying and rotating equipment failures.
