Provider of laser-based solutions Coherent has ramped up the PowerMax -USB/RS laser power measurement product series by adding new sensors. These sensors are the first devices to combine the full meter electronics with a sensor head that are fitted into a RS 232 or a USB 2.0 cable connector.
The new PowerMax sensors have the potential to measure laser power in kilowatts range. The sensors include water-cooled thermopile sensors, hence, they can measure laser power in the range of 1W - 1kW. The 1kW sensor is offered in post mounted configuration for lab use, and in compact form for embedded OEM applications.
The other new products added to the PowerMax-USB/RS line are a convective air-cooled thermopile sensor series that measure laser power ranging from 10mW to 30W, at a wavelength ranging from 190 nm to 11 µm. The new sensors feature a low noise floor and have the ability to tolerate high average powers in compact package.
The sensors use the PowerMax PC applications software of Coherent as a virtual instrument interface, for allowing the operator to compute measurement statistics, take laser power readings, and log data. It also allows the users to write own software with the help of the host interface commands, which control every aspect entire features of the power meter operation.
