Custom Sensors & Technology and GlaxoSmithKline have teamed up to design an innovative LED LIF (light-induced fluorescence) sensor for end-point detection and blend uniformity during the powder blending process. The LED LIF sensor was showcased at the 2010 IFPAC show.
The LIF sensor has a range of features such as onboard hot-swappable powering and communication options, a compact sensor device and excitation references on diodes. The LIF sensor offers customized analytical flexibility through the UV-Vis LED array technologies.
The LIF sensor incorporates a number of advanced diagnostics and sensing features that enable real-time detection. It has optical configurations that are customized for detecting solid-state materials such as powders. The sensor also includes alternative options for detecting gases and liquids. It also features an onboard accelerometer and a solid-state device (SSD), and can be operated on both battery and alternative current (AC). These features enable reliable monitoring for complex process control.
The LIF sensor allows manufacturers to streamline the processes, and also enables them to reduce labor, product waste and equipment. These features make the LED LIF sensor a cost-effective solution for fluorescence applications.
