EDN China Honors Vishay Intertechnology with Innovation Award for Passive Components and Sensors

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. today announced that the company has received an EDN China First 10 Years of Innovation Award in the category of Best Products (2005 - 2014): Passive Components and Sensors.

As part of the 10th anniversary of EDN China's esteemed Innovation Awards program, the special awards were introduced to recognize outstanding companies that have received the most accolades over the past decade.

The EDN China Innovation Awards were introduced in 2005 to recognize achievements in the design of ICs and related products in the Chinese market. It has steadily grown to become one of the China Mainland’s most anticipated and respected accolades for the electronics design industry. Since the introduction of the awards, Vishay has been honored more times in the category of Passive Components and Sensors than any other manufacturer.

With its ultra-low ESR values in the 0805 case size, the company’s TR8 molded MicroTan® tantalum chip capacitor first took home the honors for Vishay in 2008. That was followed in 2009 by the WSLT2010 Power Metal Strip® resistor with high-temperature operation to +275 °C. In 2010 the TANTAMOUNT® Hi-Rel COTS T97 and commercial, industrial-grade 597D series of solid tantalum chip capacitors impressed the judges with their industry-high 75 V rating, while the 34 THE Hall effect sensor — the industry’s first multi-turn sensor to feature non-contact technology — was a winner in 2011. Vishay’s VJ Non-Magnetic Series of MLCCs — designed for use in filter circuits for MRI equipment, implantable medical devices, and high-end audio systems — received the award in 2012.

Winners of the First 10 Years of Innovation Awards were announced at the 2014 EDN China Innovation Awards Ceremony on June 26 in Shanghai.

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc., a Fortune 1000 Company listed on the NYSE (VSH), is one of the world's largest manufacturers of discrete semiconductors (diodes, MOSFETs, and infrared optoelectronics) and passive electronic components (resistors, inductors, and capacitors).
