Alpha Vision Design has developed a new bi-directional footfall sensor, Ulysses, which monitors visitor traffic. The sensor is based on volume measurement technology that counts the number of people entering and exiting the specified location.
Thermal counters available in the market today have limitations related to exposure to the sun, air conditioning, and outdoor environments. Light changes, shadows, and dark surroundings affect the performance of video-based sensors. Ulysses, on the other hand, is patented with proprietary tracking and volumetric technologies that overcome the challenges faced by other sensors.
Designed to operate both as a stand-alone device and be LAN or Wi-Fi networked, Ulysses, delivers real time footfall mapping of visitor traffic across more than one given locations. This sensor is particularly useful in analyzing key performance indicators at a store, mall, or nightclub. Retail operation managers can access visitor count information and combine them with retail analytics to measure key business metrics, such as customer to sales ratios, footfall, Shoppers per Square Foot (SSF), marketing Cost per Thousand (CPM), and yield significant cost saving.
Visitor traffic accuracy provided by Ulysses paves way for the development of retail business analytics, which will result in improved return on investment. This volume-based sensor is compact, simple to install, robust, easy to maintain, and compatible with the company’s Traffic Central series of reporting software, which allows users to view and analyze the recorded footfall. Options to receive automated reports on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis are available.
