Packing a 1000g triaxial capability with integrated signal conditioning into a miniature, titanium cube accelerometer weighing less than four grams is no mean feat but that is what Kistler Instruments has achieved with the latest addition to its PiezoStar® family.
The new accelerometer has exceptionally low thermal sensitivity shift combined with a flat frequency response across the entire 0.5 to 10,000Hz frequency range to provide versatile, high-accuracy measuring in changing temperatures from -54°C to 165°C. The Kistler’s PiezoStar® shear crystal sensing element gives very low sensitivity variation over the wide operating temperature range, compared with quartz and ceramic sensing elements.
The hermitically sealed, welded titanium, ground isolated, IP68 housing permits operation in harsh, dirty or wet environments. A TEDS (Transducer Electronics Data Sheet) option is available to simplify installation and set-up. Mounting by a central mounting hole tapped 6-32 UNC on each of three sides of the cube design gives maximum adapterless mounting flexibility and allows the miniature 4-pin ceramic connector to be positioned throughout 360 degrees for convenient cable orientation.
The new accelerometer can be powered by any Kistler power supply coupler or industry standard IEPE (Integrated Electronic Piezoelectric) compatible power source.
With its extremely wide and flat frequency response this unique accelerometer is designed for use in modal and durability testing of automotive, aviation and aerospace structures at high temperatures. It is equipped with a voltage output (IEPE) and a range of insulated adapters is available.
