Biotage, a supplier of analytical and medicinal chemistry solutions, has added a new light-scattering detector to its flash purification systems portfolio. The Isolera ELSD-1080 is evaporative and designed to suit Biotage’s entire suite of flash purification solutions.
The ELSD-1080 detector offers sub-ambient evaporation through its ability to detect semi-explosive compounds with operational heat that ranges between 10°C and 80°C. Its ability to disperse a portion of the flash cartridge outflow and spot the residual particles makes its application widespread. With minimum or indiscernible ultra violet light absorption, the detector allows for breaking up of composite classes such as carbohydrates, lipids, steroids, and terpenes.
Integration of short wavelength with blue LED technology, in comparison with existing systems that use a laser, offers enhanced accuracy, which results in reduced power consumption. Highly sensitive and impart superb reactions from semi-volatile compounds, the ELSD-1080 detector is flexible and provides an accuracy of +/- 2%. The system is compact, portable, and operates as an isolated device with non-Biotage analytical HPLC systems as well. The evaporator and the nebulizer provide optimization capability for both reversed and normal stages of solvent systems.
Through patented TLC-to-gradient technology, the system creates wash out materials and solvents and suggests the size of the cartridge and sample required. Using two wavelengths, users can collect fractions, adjust the flow rate between 1 and 200 ml/min, and integrate up to four solvents in a single gradient for maximum purity and yield.
Biotage’s flash purification systems are now available for partially unstable UV transparent, UV absorbing, and almost every other compound type. All Isolera systems include Gradient Optimization (GO) technology, which enables users to reduce solvent consumption by up to 60%, when compared with conventional linear methods. The Isolera One is a single cartridge base model with a 4-cartridge configuration, and the Isolera Four is ideal for high-throughput or multi-user laboratories.
