Alps Electric to Market and Sell Qualtré’s Industrial-Grade Gyroscopes Worldwide

Qualtré, Inc., a leader in the development and commercialization of bulk acoustic wave (BAW) MEMS motion sensors, today announced that a Commercial Sales Agreement has been executed with Alps Electric, enabling them to market and sell Qualtré’s industrial-grade gyroscopes worldwide. This agreement further expands on the existing manufacturing and strategic partnerships between the two companies.

Alps Electric is a global company based in Tokyo, Japan with annual revenue of US$ 5.9 billion (¥ 684,362 million, 2014) and distribution channels in growing markets, including industrial, automotive and consumer. The company is an established sensor supplier with a diverse product portfolio and experienced sales/application support teams in place worldwide.

“Expanding upon our gyroscope development partnership with Qualtré that started in 2008, the commercial sales agreement allows Alps Electric to strengthen our sensor business and will help us expand in several key markets where we already have a presence,” commented Yasuo Sasao, Director of Alps Electric’s Components Business. “Our sensor customers require high reliability and performance which makes the addition of Qualtré’s BAW MEMS gyroscopes the perfect fit. We are looking forward to working with Qualtré to generate new sales opportunities in the coming months.”

“With strong customer acceptance and a global strategic partner like Alps Electric taking on a sales and distribution role, I expect this relationship will open many new doors with design engineers who need more robust devices like Qualtré’s BAW MEMS sensors,” commented Edgar Masri, President and CEO of Qualtré. “Channel partnerships such as this one are a key component in our growth strategy and I expect to see many new customer relationships and significant business develop as a result.”
