Wireless MedCARE, a wireless sensor information provider to healthcare systems, declared that it has acquired FDA 510(k) authorization to commercialize its sensor mediated care system, VivaTRAK™.
The VivaTRAK enhances patient protection by reinforcing the documentation and the working potential of the nursing activities connected with preventive circumstances such as falls and pressure ulcers.
The sensor based VivaTRAK can monitor the exercise of patients and their health care providers in nursing homes and confirms that care is delivered at the appropriate time and reported in the records for reimbursement, quality assurance and safety-risk abatement. The sensor mediated patient- centered health care system works on a fiber optic, patented sensing device, which scrutinizes the activities of patients under treatment. It then furnishes the information to a data server, supplying the necessary reports and comments to nurses, and examines their feedback.
Dan Wrappe, CEO of Wireless MedCARE, said that MedCARE focuses on supplying a novel system to enhance the quality of care and working efficiency in the healthcare industry and the VivaTRAK system has helped in achieving their goal with the alliance of investors, employees and partners for commercialization.
The FDA clearance covers information from a highly positive clinical trial at the Raleigh Court Healthcare Center functioned by the Medical Facilities of America (MFA) and the clinical trial was carried out under the supervision of the Institutional Review Board of the Carilion Clinic Roanoke.
Keith Helmer, the chief operating officer, MFA commented that the VivaTRAK aids the healthcare provision effectively and the MFA is glad to help WMC in configuring the functions. The Wireless MedCARE is planning to release the service of the VivaTRAK solution, including the sensor technology that is patented by the end of 2010.
