Sensor Synergy Introduces Watts Aware Remote Power Monitoring System

Watts Aware WA-118 is a novel remote monitoring system introduced by Sensor Synergy.  It is a cost-effective, easily installed package used to observe and explore real-time power utility options inside a commercial set-up or factory.

Techniques and operations that are inefficient can be detected and set right, leading to significant savings. This system quantifies and shares data regarding power utilization of bulky motor-driven equipments, HVAC, and a collection of power-consuming machinery such as air compressors, process ovens, refrigerators, and lighting equipments. The first step would be to identify the usage patterns of consumers utilizing maximum power. The WA Dashboard Software detects faulty machinery as well as machines that are left in operation at the end of the shift.

Power monitoring system

In comparison with other more expensive systems, WA proves to be a system, which without disrupting the working of the monitored equipment, can be easily installed in an hour’s time.

Once the WA pack is installed, its software instantly starts observing and displaying the amount of power consumed in the form of tables and graphs. This system comprises of one netbook computer, three 500 amp and three 200 amp current sensors, one wireless router, software programs, the WA Data Acquisition Unit and cables needed to put together a working system.

The rate at which power is consumed is measured and shown on the display window with just a two-second impediment. The company managers can observe the power utility variations immediately on the netbook computer’s display pane. It can also be stored, to be viewed on any PC, in the future, into a spreadsheet program. Power consumption could be detected and recorded for months without imperiling employees, by exposing them to high voltage probes or using expensive conduit systems or flimsy alligator clip measurement leads. Also there would not be any power outages to disrupt the installation proceedings.

WA rapidly displays information on machinery that misuse power, huge compressors with extra power consumption for small jobs, broken down equipment which needs to be tuned-up, or swapped with devices that are more competent. It is also able to detect formerly used, but now forgotten power drains and alter them to suit present day needs. Information regarding operations that need to be performed at various timings to eliminate peak demand charges is also provided. This enables the user to use power judiciously and at times when cost is lower, i.e. during off-peak hours. All this helps in reducing power consumption, and saves a lot of money. The WA-118 is available with a variety of sensor configurations.
