mirSense is a world leader in spectroscopic laser detection for chemical analysis applications and supplies system manufacturers with advanced multi laser technology. mirSense exploits proprietary innovative solutions based on a very solid patent portfolio.
Sensing the world to make it a better place
Our chemical environment is becoming more and more complex. Molecular traces can be harmful, directly to the human body or indirectly by causing global warming for instance. They can also reveal or engender diseases.
By providing affordable high performance laser spectroscopy solutions to OEM, mirSense leverages the capability of protecting people.
Indeed, mirSense improves:
- Indoor and outdoor air quality
- Green-house gases reduction
- Process sustainability
- Accuracy of medical treatments
mirSense technology is the outcome of over 15 years of R&D in III-V lab, a common laboratory between Alcatel, Thales and the CEA-Léti. Combining nanotechnology and photonics, the strong miniaturization of the mirSense technology offers unique solutions.
From the early stage of the QCL technologies
In 1998, Thomson CSF, which later became THALES, started a QCL activity. In 2004, Alcatel-Lucent and Thales created III-V Lab which naturally became the ideal cocoon for QCLs development.
III-V Lab: key developments as a milestone to success
Dr. Mathieu CARRAS, co-founder of the company, developed the QCL technology at III-V Lab for 10 years. His work on metal gratings has led to the patented technology of mirSense, its unique patented surface metal technology.
The contribution of the silicon industry
Léti is an institute of the CEA, a French research and technology organization with activities in energy, IT, healthcare, defense and security. Léti is focused on creating value and innovation through technology transfer to its industrial partners. It specializes in nanotechnologies and their applications, from wireless devices and systems, to biology, healthcare and photonics. NEMS and MEMS are at the core of its activities. In 2010, CEA-Léti joined the III-V Lab, in order to combine Silicon and III-V technologies, and particularly for photonic applications. Dr. Mickael BRUN, research engineer at CEA-Léti and co-founder of mirSense, has since dedicated his time and expertise on Silicon process flows to bring the QCLs on the silicon platform for benefit of mirSense.
