Sensoria Inc., a world leader in wearable fitness technology, has partnered with one of Southern Europe’s largest media groups to deliver the official app of the 2016 Milan Marathon.
Together with RCS Media Group, Sensoria is releasing a new version of its fitness app to help runners in their training leading up to the marathon. Runners can also use the app during the race to improve their performance.
“We are proud to collaborate with RCS Media Group on this race and introduce our technology as a new facet of this iconic race,” said Davide Vigano, CEO and cofounder of Sensoria. “The current record for the fastest finish time on the Milan Marathon is 2:08:44. The purpose of the app, which can be used in conjunction with our smart garments, is to help runners of all levels achieve their personal best and not just surpass the race’s record but also the country’s record—making the Milan Marathon both the fastest and healthiest in Italy.”
The new version of the Sensoria Fitness app is now available in Italian and Spanish and will help runners measure distance, pace, speed and elevation during their runs. The app can work alone or with Sensoria’s Smart Running System to provide more detailed feedback. The Smart Running System launched in the fall of 2015 and includes smart socks and heart rate monitoring upper body garments. The smart socks, sports bra and t-shirts are embedded with sensors and track metrics like cadence, foot landing technique and impact forces that can be useful for runners looking to enhance their performance and refine their running form.
“Leveraging Sensoria’s smart garments and its Sensoria Fitness companion app is elevating the Milan Marathon to new technology leadership heights,” said Paolo Bellino, Director of RCS Media Group during the press conference held in Milan. “With more than 15,000 runners expected at this year’s event, this partnership has the potential to show the impact technology can have on runners’ training, health and performance.”
