Houston Astros Selects Blast Motion's Easton Power Sensor to Help Improve Player Swing Performance

Blast Motion, an industry innovator focused on elevating player performance with its wearable motion capture and swing analysis technologies, today announced that the Easton Power Sensor was selected as the official swing sensor of the Houston Astros. The Astros plan to capture and analyze swing performance utilizing the Easton Power Sensor during a variety of training and practice activities – with the ultimate goal of helping players improve their swing performance.

“Being selected by the Houston Astros as the official swing analyzer is an honor and a great validation for our technology,” said Mike Woods, vice president of sales, Blast Motion. “The Astros now have access to the most accurate and consistent swing analysis technology on the market. Historically, professional grade technology has been expensive and difficult to use, limiting training applications. We solved this challenge by partnering with the Astros to optimize the pro team apps to match major and minor league training session workflows.”

“We are excited about the swing analytics the Blast Motion solution brings to our organization, benefiting players, coaches, and the entire baseball operations teams for both the minor and major league teams,” said Brandon Taubman, director of baseball operations. “The technology is portable, smart, and non-intrusive, providing invaluable information that complements the expertise within our organization.”

The Blast Motion pro team apps are designed to provide baseball teams with a powerful technology toolset that helps them streamline the collection and analysis of swing data, track player performance during team training, and manage an entire team of individual sensors.

The Easton Power Sensor and free mobile app have been specially designed to help players of all ages and skillsets swing with more power and improve their game performance. The Easton Power Sensor attachment slips over the knob of any baseball or softball bat and has been designed to capture highly accurate swing metrics and track player performance. By leveraging Blast Motion’s patented Smart Video Capture™ technology, the Easton Power Sensor intelligently combines video and swing metrics to create a powerful new swing analysis tool that automatically detects a player’s swing and clips the video to create a series of video highlights. No user editing or playback intervention is required to experience this groundbreaking functionality.
