Process manufacturers, panel builders and systems integrators are set to benefit from a new compact, wall-mounted universal process indicator, which offers a large, multi-colour or ultra bright (red, green or blue) LED display. The IP67-protected indicators are ideal for installation in harsh industrial process control environments.
The SUR-457 universal wall-mounted process indicator from Impress Sensors & Systems Ltd is available with an optional remote control unit for configuration and programming of the display. The indicator is equipped with a single universal input: 4-20mA, 0-10V, 0-150mV, RTD or TC.
During measurements, only one type of input is available. The indicator can therefore be installed in line with a current sensor and will display the sensor output.
Due to a wide range of characteristic curves (linear, square root, quadratic, user-defined and volume characteristics for cylindrical tanks) the indicators can be used in a variety of process control applications.
The 24V DC/100mA power supply output is designed to supply measurement transducers, with RS-485 and Modbus RTU interfaces for transmission of measurement data and easy integration to existing process control systems, networks and fieldbuses.
Results are displayed on a large LED display with 57mm high digits to ensure that display results are always easily readable. Configuration of the device can be carried out using an optional IR remote controller, eliminating unwanted button presses.
The freely scaleable digital indicator also offers signal peak value detection and so is able to display the maximum value of a sensor output over a given time period. Alarm outputs are also available, which means the user can set up limits that trigger a beacon, sounder or other PLC event.
The multi-colour version of the indicator allows any colour settings within the range of red to green with additional levels of seven colour in between. This means the indicator can be set up to change colour depending on the state of the control outputs. For example, an alarm state could change from green to red as preferred by the user.
The SUR-457 housing is very compact, measuring just 230 x 140 x 96.5mm, enabling panel builders to install the unit into restricted spaces.
The indicators are also supplied with the S-Config software as standard, which allows users to set up and configure the device via the RS-485 interface.
