ASM Sensors has released its novel POSITAPE series stainless steel tape position sensing devices with the WB10ZG range, featuring a calibration range of 6.5 ft, within a condensed 2” x 2” x 3.3” enclosure.
The WB10ZG sensing unit encompasses a uniquely designed stainless steel tape that has been taken up to an accurately machined drum. The steel tape offers high-flexibility, durable life-span and can be widely exploited for applications demanding pulleys to overcome the space limitations, avoiding direct in-line calibrations. In ice-accumulated zones, the parallel, smooth area of the tape permits speedy removal of the ice. The high-quality tape brush constantly cleans off the tape surface to eliminate the formation of debris.
These position sensors are IP65certified and can be obtained with 0.5 V to 4.5V, 0.5V to 10V and 4 mA to 20 mA SSI or analog outputs, CAN SAE J1939 or CANopen digital outputs. The linearity of the output range is about full scale +/- 0.05% with the 6.5 ft. calibration range.
The position sensor features a magnetic encoder at its central point that functions to transform the linear movement in an electrical signal. The M12 connector allows a rapid electrical interface at the time of integration process. The WB10ZG is not affected by 20g 10Hz-2 kHz, 10 cycle vibration and 100g/11ms or 100 shocks. The highly condensed, robust enclosure and its durable stainless steel tape facilitates its utility in a broad range of purposes, even in hazardous conditions and compressed zones particularly in machineries and off-highway automobiles.
