An automatic pilot system has been devised by Iranian students for use in unmanned helicopters to aid non-professional pilots. Mohammad Mehrbani, Director of this project, explained to ISNA that this automatic pilot system aimed at unmanned helicopters is a hardware-software assembly, particularly structured for directing a helicopter.
He remarked that the unmanned small-scale helicopters are not constant and to regulate it, the pilot should possess high experience and proficiency. This innovative pilot system is integrated with sensing devices for sensing the location and condition, he added.
According to Mehrbani, the system also features a flight computer, Global Positioning System (GPS), RF receiver, fool-proof solutions to rescue it in crucial situations, and a sender to transmit and collect information and for upgrading various objectives of the mission. He continued that with the help of these applied systems, the pilots can easily and reliably direct the helicopter and facilitate operations such as take off, landing and flying, while standing on three-dimensional spots, prescribed by terrain stations that can be altered on-line.
