MEMSIC, a top-ranking solution provider in the MEMS sensing industry, has finished constructing a manufacturing plant with an R&D Center in the Wuxi region of China.
The 224,000-square-foot facility incorporates an R&D Institute measuring 94,000 sq. ft. and a manufacturing unit with an area of 130,000 sq. ft. The two newly constructed buildings are located adjacent to MEMSIC’s existing manufacturing plant, which covers 45,000 sq. ft. and has been functioning since 2004.
With the construction of the new facility, the total manufacturing space of MEMSIC is now 175,000 sq. ft. The combined manufacturing facility of MEMSIC will cater to the increased demand for sensor components likely over the next few years.
The R&D unit will function as the MEMS technology center of the company’s China operation. The R&D hub will enable MEMSIC to attract engineering resources and enhance its R&D activities in order to develop smart sensor products as well as offer technical support to customers.
Dr. Yang Zhao, Chairman, CEO and President at MEMSIC, commented that MEMSIC has been a leader in the micro-electrical-systems arena. Zhao claims that the success of MEMSIC is due to its staying ahead in the technology curve, and transforming new trends and concepts into real products. According to Zhao, the company is thrilled to have built the new facility. This facility incorporates the infrastructure required to create affordable and innovative multi-sensor solutions for global customers at effective scales. Zhao also said that the new facility would enable the company to match its projected growth during the next five years.
