Researchers Develop New Blood Glucose Sensor

Scientists at Arizona State University and Mayo Clinic have developed a new blood glucose sensor that uses tear fluid instead of finger pricks for reliable blood glucose monitoring.

The tear sample is obtained by dabbing the corner of the eye and the sensor will determine the levels of glucose in the tear sample. These values can be linked with the glucose levels in the blood.

However, achieving repeatable results remains a major challenge in the sensor. The conclusive evidence of its performance has been validated. The research project was funded by Mayo Clinic and BioAccel.
