Texas Instruments (TI) released a small, energy-efficient digital temperature sensor, called the TMP103.
It offers read/write feature to minimize processor loading, software programming and simplifies thermal profiling.
Eight TMP103 devices placed on the board can recognize and check for hotspots concurrently by a single instruction. The TMP103 ensures small form factors and enhanced battery life. It can be incorporated into hand-held electronic devices such as netbooks, laptops, smartphones, and tablets.
The TMP103 consumes a maximum of 3uA in active mode and 1uA in shutdown mode to ensure longer battery life. This temperature measurement sensor is ideal for monitoring limited-space and high-density applications across multiple temperature zones.
It can be used extensively in TI's embedded processing and analog devices. Designed specifically for the consumer electronics market provides wireless connectivity, audio codecs, interface, and battery management.
